Comfort Guarantee vs. Product Warranty

It’s easy to be confused about the difference between a product warranty and a comfort guarantee (sleep trial). product warranty protects you from defects in workmanship and materials; unlike normal wear and tear which is never covered under most warranties. After several years of use, like any product, your mattress will begin to show signs of wear, it may feel less supportive which can lead to discomfort.  This should not be mistaken for a defect, but as a sign that your mattress may be nearing the end of its life, and will soon need to be replaced.. Comfort, on the other hand, is entirely subjective since each person has an individual preference. What feels very comfortable to one person may feel too firm or too soft to someone else. It is normal for your own comfort preferences to change throughout the years, due to your body changing over time.A mattress can feel uncomfortable to you even when there is nothing technically wrong with it, i.e., no defect is present. Most mattress companies provide only a product warranty so unless something is defective with your mattress, they will not help you.

At American sleep center, however, we also offer a one-time 30 day comfort guarantee. This means we will exchange your mattress for a new one of your choice – even when the mattress has no defects. It’s just one more example of what makes American Sleep Center different – and better.

What’s Covered Under Warranty?

Our various manufacturers’ warranties exist to insure that your mattress set is built to high quality standards and protects against manufacturing defects. For full details on what your limited warranties do and do not cover, please see your warranty card or visit your manufacturer’s website. We pride ourselves on our high quality, handpicked mattress manufactures as well as having a very low product return rate. If a mattress or box spring is found to be defective per the terms of your warranty, we will stand behind our warranty 100%.

Comfort vs. Product Defect

Every individual has unique comfort needs. While one person may love the comfort of an ultra-plush pillow top mattress, another may prefer a very firm mattress. And, the person that loves the pillow top mattress probably wouldn’t like sleeping on the very firm mattress. If a mattress isn’t comfortable for you, it doesn’t mean that there is a problem with the quality of the product; rather, it means that this particular mattress model isn’t the right match for your comfort needs.

Why won’t the manufacturer replace my mattress under warranty if it’s not the right comfort match for me?

If a mattress is uncomfortable for you, this does not mean that there is a product defect present. It may be that the mattress is simply too soft or too firm for your body’s unique needs, and replacing your mattress model with the same model will not alleviate the problem. When you purchase a new mattress, it is important that you speak with the retailer to understand your return and/or exchange options under the store’s policies. It is also important that you take your time when selecting a new mattress, to insure that you are picking the right comfort match for you. After all, you will sleep on your mattress every night for years to come.
